Almost one year of the Covid19 pandemic in Indonesia! A period that took many lives. Deaths and recoveries related to the Covid19 virus take turns coming and going. Because of this, the government has to issue regulations that oblige the public to implement certain health protocols, in order to reduce the spread of the virus.

Especially the case of death: it is death in solitude, no relatives accompanying physically, except for special officers. How touching. Alone, sick, died and buried in a special place. Only prayers from far away accompany all of this.

For those who have made it through the critical period because of this virus and are declared free from virus infection, it is not impossible for them to be infected again. Disregard for health protocols required by the government could trigger the virus to return to infect.

The Covid19 virus pandemic affected almost all aspects of life. The obligations stated in the health protocol, change the behavior of community members in carrying out their daily activities. The most stringent is: prohibition to leave the house, if there is no urgent need. We pray together that this pandemic will pass quickly.


One of the important aspects that have been disturbed by the Covid19 pandemic is education, especially school activities. Going to school, which means coming to the school, entering the classroom and gathering with friends and teachers, are gone and eliminates the aspect of socialization among the implementers of teaching and learning activities. Going to school today is an activity that is carried out in their respective homes, by utilizing the sophistication of  "nowadays" communication network technology. "On-line" schools, online learning (online) are what followed after "work from home" (and "on-line" shopping).

Teaching and learning activities must continue, whatever the means. The transmission of knowledge must not be interrupted by a pandemic! Therefore, by leveraging the strength of the current communication network, teaching and learning activities, seminars and trainings, even student graduation ceremonies, are designed to be held online.

Pudak Scientific, as a producer of educational aids as well as an organizer of trainings for teachers, education enthusiasts, and even the general public, is also following this online "trend". "On-line" seminars, online training and several knowledge-sharing demonstrations, were conducted. Activities and interactions are carried out visually only.


Some time ago, when there was no Covid19 pandemic and when training activities were carried out face-to-face at the Pudak Training Center, Bandung - West Java, there were many who wanted to participate, but were constrained by the long distance from their places. There are even participants who live outside Java. In this regard, several educational institutions have requested that training be carried out in their locations. We tried to grant this request and have conducted several training activities outside our location, including on the island of Batam, Kalimantan, Sumatra. But nowadays, with the pandemic forcing everyone to stay in their places, and causing this online "trend", the problem of "far away places of training or seminar..." is, inadvertently, resolved. Any wisdom behind the pandemic?

Our team has tried their best to maintain and improve the quality of the implementation of these online teaching and learning activities, whether in the form of seminars or training and demonstrations. The use of equipment and time as well as the selection of materials will be prepared more carefully so that at the time of delivery it can take place effectively and efficiently and we hope that the final achievement is maximum for each activity. However ..., there is excitement that is lost when the activities are carried out online, namely the implementation of practicum using equipment. Practicum is held as a moment to prove the theories previously given by the speaker. Trainees are usually divided into groups. Of course there will be healthy competition among the practicum groups, this is the lost excitement. In its implementation, this practicum, apart from providing the opportunity to use adequate equipment, also provides an opportunity to get to know each other, exchange knowledge and experiences among all activity implementers.

With online training activities, the number of participants can increase. We limit the number of participants to 250 participants, but apparently the quota is still lacking. We were surprised by the enthusiasm of the teachers who remained high in participating in the training and seminars. Quite a lot of disappointments arose from prospective participants due to their late registration and the speed with which the quota was filled up. This is certainly one of the considerations for our training team to design this online activity so that no one feels let down again. Hopefully in 2021, online activities will be even better, both from a technical preparation and in terms of implementation.


Hopefully the Corona19 pandemic will pass soon in the near future. With the passing of the pandemic, hopefully the education aspect, as well as other aspects, which have been greatly disturbed, will return to normal activities. Hopefully.
